ITBP enter knock-
NAHARLAGUN, Aug 9: Defending champions ITBP today secured their place in the knockout stages of the ongoing Eagle Trophy when they beat Capital Complex SC in a hard fought match at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here.
Despite both teams making surging runs towards the opposition goal posts, they were unable to break the deadlock in the first half. The story of the second half was much the same with neither team managing to get anything on the score board. It would take intense and constant pressure for ITBP to finally taking the lead in the 70th minute with a Bipul Chandra strike. Chandra’s lone goal would be enough to seal the deal for ITBP.
Earlier in the first match of the day, goals from Rocky Ramching and Pura Byai on either side of the halves ensured Bamang Taji FC a victory over their opponents FC Nyapin.

Residents repair road on self-
NAHARLAGUN, Aug 9: Residents of Pachin Colony here organized a social service for the second time this year to maintain the dilapidated road that connects Pachin colony with Naharlagun which was badly damaged during this monsoon. The first social service was held to restore another road damaged in the heart of the colony (Middle pachin) on July 20 last. This time, the residents under the initiative of Pachin Welfare Committee President Tadar Tania contributed for procuring cements, boulders, sand, gravels, soil etc and toiled to repair the stretches of the road at Chari Ali point, Middle Pachin and Lower Pachin voluntarily.
The colony often termed as most remote and backward colony of Itanagar which houses over 5000 residents is often marooned during monsoon every year following road blocked at several points in the form of wash outs, land slide etc due to lack of drains and culverts on the road compelling the residents to track through over 3 kms to reach Naharlagun.
4 SSA teachers’ pay held up
AALO, Aug 9: The West Siang DDSE has held up salaries of four SSA teachers for remaining absent from duty for several months, reports DIPRO.
The teachers are said to have been absenting themselves from duty since June 2, the report said, adding that the DDSE has called acceptable explanation from their respective administrative officers, BEOs and BRCC regarding the reason for their absence failing which their service will be terminated without any further notification. ITANAGAR, Aug 9: The students and teachers of P Sector Middle School paid tributes to the freedom fighters on Kranti Divas today.
The Headmaster of the school Toku Raja and the teachers highlighted the significance of Kranti Divas /Quit India Movement of 1942 initiated by Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress.

Seminar on caste system in ancient India held
ZIRO, Aug 9: The History Department of Hill Queen Education Institute (HQEI) conducted a departmental seminar for the session 2014 under the theme ‘Caste System in Ancient India’.
Hage Bida, a freelance Anthropologist chaired the session as Resource Person.
Three papers were presented by the students of class XI and XII (Humanity). Yumlan Neni presented a paper on the Introduction and Origin of the Caste System, Gyati Kaku on the Four Varnas, and Kalung Horming focused on the Present Status in India.
Later, the Resource Person highlighted the importance of organizing seminars at the school level as it would boost the confidence of students and help them in participating in such events in future.
Habung Pilya, the principal of the school, said that the basic purpose of organizing departmental seminars was mainly to encourage and make the students acquainted with the patterns and authenticity of writing and presenting papers not only at the school level but also at colleges and universities.

Bankers review security measures
ITANAGAR, Aug 9: The bankers in Ziro-
The meeting attended by Branch Managers of various banks in Lower Subansiri district and Superintendent of Police Tumme Amo stressed the need for installation of CCTV cameras in banks at the earliest.
Taking part in the discussion, Amo advised all the bank managers to get the hotlines installed with the Police Station since majority of the banks in Lower Subansiri had no hotlines facility. He also suggested to all the bank managers to install Electronic Access Control System/Biometric Access Control to ensure that only identified and verified person can enter near the strong room or the manager.
All the banks building should be of RCC for full proof security of the bank and to prevent from any fire accident or dacoit/burglary etc. There must be one entry and exit point at all the banks, the meeting resolved.
“The guard room should be attached to the bank building and he be changed from time to time and Bank Manager should ensure that guards are supervised from time to time,” the meeting observed.
“To ensure DFMD/HHMD at the entry points of all the banks, security personnel shall be briefed regularly. The alarm system should be installed to sound emergency incase of any incidents of robbery/dacoit etc. The alarm system should be connected with Police Station so that Police could arrive at the earliest.”
All the managers also put forth their views and problem faced by them.
The SP assured to render every possible help and also suggested to all the bank managers of the district to keep updated about security measures to avoid any untoward incidents.
It was also discussed to have meeting from time to time in near future to ensure security and safety of the banks. As an immediate step flying squad has been formed with inspector I. Gamlin, CC 5th IRBn as in– charge of the squad, who will visit all the banks under Lower Subansiri district to assess the security measures of the banks. All the officer in–charges of Police Stations were also directed to pay sudden and random visits to all the banks under their respective jurisdiction.

DM puts blanket ban on use of polythene
ITANAGAR, Aug 9: District Magistrate (DM), Itanagar Capital Complex Mige Kamki in an order under Section 133 Cr.PC has imposed blanket ban on use of polythene, plastic carry bags for supply of goods in polythene, plastic carry bags in Itanagar Capital Complex with immediate effect.
“No person will manufacture, store, import, sell or use polythene/plastic carry bags in Capital Complex,” the order said.
It is pertaining to mention here that the Capital administration vide an order on July 12, 2012 had put complete ban on use of polythene and plastic carry bags in the Capital Complex area.

Addressing the valedictory function, Lower Subansiri District Tourism Officer (DTO) Tater Mize opined that getting participation certificates will be of no use in tourism industry unless you work hard and utilize the knowledge you have learned from the training.’
Expecting their contribution in bringing Arunachal to world tourism map, he suggested the trainees to disseminate the knowledge they have gained in the training to fellow members, friends and others in the village so that everybody can learn the concept of the rural tourism. Unlike other sectors, we can not achieve desired result in tourism with limited stakeholders. It needs collective efforts and cooperation from entire local populace, he added.
Further, he made it clear that to make an entry into the field of tourism, education is not a bare. An illiterate person can also take up tourism related activities and make success in this sector if they pursue it sincerity honestly.
“Hospitality is must for rural tourism service providers. Like all the religions that teaches us ‘not to harm the guests’; the tourism industries also in modern day world dictates the same law for which we have to personify tourism as a religion,” he advocated.

DHS conducts IDCF at Paya village
AALO, Aug 9: West Siang District Health Society (DHS) has conducted an awareness campaign highlighting the importance Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) for treatment of diarrhea under Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at Paya village yesterday.
Dr. Kengo Ori, DFWO, who led the medical team to the village, said that health awareness is quite essential today to keep various common diseases, including diarrhea at bay.
He informed that similar BCC/IEC campaign will be conducted in many more villages and schools in the coming days.
He further disclosed that ORS, condoms and contraceptives pills are being made available to all ASHAs of the district.
Yomto Lollen, DPM, highlighted the IDCF activities during 2014 and disclosed that Paya village has been targeted for the camp as it was hit by a major epidemic in the past.
Marge Ete, ASM, Paya village said that people are now more aware than before on health and hygiene for which no epidemic has been reported in recent days at Paya village. He insisted on conduction of more such camps in future considering the fact that the village has no direct link road with the District Hospital.
Altogether 65 villagers attended the awareness programme and got their health checked up.
